Your gas mileage is semi-average... not really that bad. Do a really good tune up (cap/rotor, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, oil change, spark plug wires if needed) and see if it improves.

TB spacer won't give you any power, they are BS.

For a small increase in power just do intake, header, and exhaust

If you want real quiet exhaust, you could have larger piping put on and have them weld the stock muffler onto that. Or if you don't mind a little sound but not very loud you could go with an exhaust such as the APEX'i WS2. Go with 2.25" piping, any larger is overkill for your application.

For intake just go with a short ram because it's cheaper. AEM short ram intake can be found brand new on ebay for ~$100 shipped. Generic intakes are cheaper but their filters are garbage so if you buy a nice filter to go with it you'd be spending almost as much as an entire AEM intake, so you might as well go with the AEM.

For a header, if you're not in California, you should look into a Megan Racing header. They are a great value header, at only about $150 shipped. If you're in California, look at a DC sports header, it is CARB approved, but about twice as much money. If you get the Megan Racing 2-piece header just make sure you put it together well and re-torque the bolts after the initial warm-up and cool-down of the header, and check the torque again in a couple days of driving to make sure it's still okay. The reason for this is that the gasket will easily blow out if you do not make sure that the bolts are nice and tight. For added protection, coat the gasket in high-temp copper RTV.

You can gain a couple of horsepower from a high-flow catalytic converter. I recommend the Magnaflow direct-fit catalytic converter. Don't get the "high flow cat" from ebay, they are fake... only straight-through test pipes. The Magnaflow catalytic converter for your car is about $150.

About the VTEC... are you saying you have 3-stage VTEC? If so, is it wired up right, and with the JDM P2J ECU?

all the tune up stuff is new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, pcv, air filter, fuel filter, oil, tranny fluid, coolant,belts,thermostat,.................even ran lucas fuel treatment a few times ,......................what kinda in crease would the air intake ,...header ,..and new exhaust 5 hp 20 50?,.............and would it in crease the mpg any? .............what is the factory exhaust size? ................and i think its a single stage v not sure all i know is it kicks in at 5500 rpms and by the time i get to 5500 rpms if im passing im already going like 80mph and am already around em ,....and if i take off from a stop kinda hard it usually gains the speed i need to be going before it even hits .........tha only way i can get it to work is dog the **** out of it from a stop or from about 40-55mph it sometimes works,......................im not looking for a race car i just need to get going before i get killed i do about 97% of hwy driving and down here most people will run right over you if you don't get it moving ,....and as far as mpg my last 96 civic was a dx dont remember what motor but it got 37-39 mpg all day..................thanks for the help

on the back left corner of the engine head, does it look like this?

or does it look like this, with two?

intake/header/exhaust probably will give you like 10 WHP or so. It's not much but it's a start. I think factory exhaust is 1.75".

Your last car would have a D16Y7 engine then.

Please don't type like that, it's very hard to read. (the ".......... ..........." everywhere). I don't mean to be mean, but learn how to use your punctuation.

The two engines should get very similar gas mileage.

Combined, you should notice a little bit of a difference in power.

And yes, that's much better, now I can read straight through it easily.

Do you know if the car has the right ECU? It should have a P2P ECU if this is a 2000 Civic like in your other posts.

its a 98 ex but it had a swap tranny and motor the guy i bought it from said they could be any where from 40,000 - 60,000 miles on them , i dont know for sure.

seems like some one on here said it was a 2000 tranny.

probably gonna do the ram air , header , and exhaust and see if that will do me , would it be wise to just do away with the catty? i dont have emissions here.

no, keep the cat. Go high flow or leave the stock one on.

But can you answer the question?

Do you know if the car has the right ECU?
