ok my lights have been dimming for awhile even tho i have i powercap. so i bought a alternator for an si since it puts out more current, but have not put it on because i was told it is difficult. but on to my problem that happened lastnight. all of the suddden after driving my car for awhile i stopped at friends house for few minuntes and when i start the car and turn the lights on eveything starts dimming in and out real bad, more that it has ever and i dont even have the stereo on. heres the messed up part when i start to leave my speedometer just starts bouncing around and floating from 120 and back, njust cazy ****! i dont understand what this could be. so could someone please help me it is driving me wacko!.....thanks for any help guys.....

 

Yep, that'll be your alternator all right. Get that new one on ASAP if you don't wanna get stranded. A bandaid solution would be to fully charge your battery before you go anyplace, but I'm not sure how long the car will run for after that. Try not to use the radio or anything electrical to save your juice in the battery.

 

yeh its def the alternator if your instrument panel goes dead or keeps bouncing

 

so the bad alternator causes the speed meter to bounce around and none of the others? i just wanted to be sure there wasnt another problem occuring....so is changing the alt as hard as what i have heard?....thanksa bunch guys for your info!
