Cant turn key to "off" position.
hello everyone.
this is my first time on this forum, but seeing as i now own a civic its probably a good move.
ok so my problem seems to be happening only when its cold out. my car starts fine but when i go for a short drive (like 5 minutes or so), when i go to park and turn my car off, i can only get the key to the accessory position still allowing power to my car. i still cant take my key out and im stuck like this for usually 30 seconds to a minute.
i asked another guy at my work that has the same year civic and trim and he gets the same problem only during the cold season.. any ideas?

Manual or automatic? Automatics have an interlock system. A switch on the shift lever detects that the transmission is in park. This operates a solenoid on the key cylinder to allow the key to be turned all the way to "lock" which locks the steering and allows the key to be removed. The idea is they don't want anyone locking the steering while the car is still moving.

so how should i solve this issue? take apart the key mechanism and check the solenoid?
is the solenoid that sensitive to cooler temperatures?
