fixing streched throttle cable.

fixing streched throttle cable.
so i think my throttle cable maybe stretched and i've read a little online about how to fix it. they say that the cable should have only about 1/2 an inch of play. does this mean that you should be able to press down on the cable for about 1/2 an inch at which point the throttle should begin to open?

Start by having someone floor the gas pedal (engine NOT running) while you check that the throttle lever moves all the way to wide open. If it does, no adjustment is necessary.
To adjust, move the two nuts that hold the stationary part of the cable to the bracket near the throttle body.
