car dies at idle???? only when warm...please help
i just rebuilt my motor (d15b7) and everything is good exept that it sometimes just shuts off.
it only happens when the car is at operating temp. and it doesnt always happen. i have a check engine light on. it seems to idle kinda low. but idk i havent put my tach in yet (thisis a new project car for me). i'll push in the clutch and it just shuts off. also after it warms up the gas pedel gets touchy. its like either in go mode and accelerating or engine braking. there is no cruise mode inbetween like it normally has. that also only happens when it is warmed up. also does anybody know how to check the codes i know some cars u turn the key a few times and the check engine light will flash a code.
p.s. i have a 1995 civic cx hatchback with a 1993 civic dx sedan motor and yes i swapped ecu's

Here's how to pull the code:

Regarding the touchy gas pedal, check whether the throttle cable is out of adjustment.

it also hasa new duralast red top battery, batery connector things, ngk iridium plugs, new wires, new performance distributor cap and rotor, water pump, thermostat , timing belt and tensioner, alternator, o2 sensor (1wire) the dx had 4 but the cx had 1 wire i dont know if that would cause any problems , gaskets, valves, resurfaced head. compresion is great across the board, timing was triple checked and is perfect. so im guessing a sensor but idk
i didnt replace any sensors

Your O2 sensor most likely isn't functioning because it must be properly matched to the ECU. The CEL light will probably indicate an O2 sensor fault, but verify anyway.
i did the swap a few months ago and also the had the 1 wire o2 sensor in it and it had no check engine light and didnt stall out at all. but i blew a valve in it ( for the 3rd time) so i just totally rebuilt the motor and put all new valves in it.
also if my throtle cable is out of adjustment could that be causing the low idle. and if so how low can the idle be before the car will just shut off. could that be my problem you think
How can the O2 sensor be sending normal signals to the ECU if it isn't wired properly?
It's very easy to check the throttle cable adjustment, which might partly explain your problem. While you're at it, also take a look at the throttle body. It might be dirty, possibly preventing it from operating smoothly.
Pull the CEL code as it will likely provide additional new insights into your problems.
