Car stopped and won't start

Car stopped and won't start
I was driving my wife's 94 EX yesterday so that I could change the oil right after work. While driving (on a slight uphill) the car sputtered a couple times and then stopped running. I tried to start the car up while coasting in neutral with no success. I pulled off the main road and tried to start it again...nothing. My friend and I checked to see if I was getting a spark by trying to arc from plug wire to the manifold and there is no spark. The distributor cap is new as is the wires, etc. All fuses checked out okay as well. Any ideas before the mechanics call me this morning with an crazy amount of work and charges?
Oh by the way, we are selling the car after it gets back up and running. I will post the pics once it is running condition again!!
Thanks a lot everyone!!

I don't know what you mean by checked on any of those cases, but if all that truly is ok, then look at the timing belt, ICM/ICU (ignition control module/unit), coil, cranck position sensor and related wiring. That applies for both people here.

RE: Car stopped and won't start
mY 97 civic was doing the same thing. After replacing the timing belt, I did a routine tune-up cap rotor, wires, plugs. It started imeediately and ran good for two days and then it just died while driving. I troubleshot it with the Haynes manual. Coil and Icm tested out good. Have a friend look at the coil when you fire the car to verify the coil is sparking. Mine was but it wasn't reaching the plugs. It was confusing because the rotor and cap were brand new. It had to be one or the other. Guessed the cap first wrong, bought a rotor and Bingo that was the problem. So new parts aren't always good. Good luck. Start with the least expensive and then upwards throught the more expensive.
