Default car suddenly stops moving and only revs

i have a honda civic 1994 lsi automatic, the problem i have is

i can start my car normally and then drive around for like 5-10 minutes but there is a whining sound coming from the engine bay then the car suddenly stops like its lost power and only revs. so i stop by the side and turn the car off and wait approx. 5-10 minutes then start it back up and its ok but then the problems starts to come back again. it seems to stop and rev only when the car is warmed up

i have checked the basics
the engine oil is full
the gearbox oil is full
the induction (all clear nothing blocking it) apart from the throttle body needs cleaning

i am unable to drive it to the garage and scared that it will be very costly

can anyone help me so i have a rough idea on what is wrong so i can tell it to the garage

thanks

I don't know if they have AAMCO in your area, but if you can get it to one they'll run a full diagnostic for free and give you an estimate.
