Is your intake system a DIY job? If your intake or aftermarket air filter is not connected properly it will do that.

hey thanx for the help, now that u said that it has me thinkin and correct me if i'm wrong.

i have the factory intake for now,the motor that is in the car though, is from a swap, do u think they did the motor swap and since they still kept the factory intake its causin that to happen. if thats the case will a performance intake take care of the problem?

I dunno. A performance intake never hurt anyone anyway did it? I just know that on my other car I made a DIY intake and did a very shotty job I'll admit. Whenever I'd start the car it would idle really low then started slowly knocking off. Kinda like the car was coughing in a way, but once you hit the gas a little bit it would be ok. I double checked and there were two pieces of pipe that had slid apart, creating a gap. I said screw it and just bought a short ram instead.

i think what has been detailed here is a vacuum leak; could be caused by various things - intake not properly installed, etc.
what one may see also, is just worn vacuum hoses. that is the case that i had. you cannot tell just by looking at them. only cost 3 or 4 dollars to replace all the small hoses. the big one off of the power brake booster i could tell was OK, so i did not replace it.

idle speed control valve?
could be this if you only notice poor idle when engine is cold.
or could possibly be a crack in the inlet manifold - has the car ever overheated?

well its a 91. i dunno if it has ever over heated, when i got the car tho the fans werent even connected so thats the first thing we took care of.

i'm pretty sure its only when the engine is cold cuz, after awhile the car runs and accelerates perfect.i can turn the car off and start it right back up fine. but if its the first time i'm startin it for the day. it wont idle right, i have to keep givin gas for awhile then i can let go and it will idle right after a a couple of minutes. just installed the new intake and still givin me the same problem

so i have idle speed control valve or or vacuum hoses. can ya guys help me out and explain like where and what? sorry guys lol i'm new to this.
