Default The car will start, then it won't, then it does, then it doesn't

I have had this happen to me three times now where my car will be starting just fine and then it wont start. It will just crank and when I step on the gas and it will sound like its getting gas, well makes a deper noise...hard to describe(injector pulse?), Its almost like I'm not getting spark but when I come back say like 10 min it starts right up. I just put a new alternator and distributor and rotor in it, but the problem happened once before the new parts and twice after them.
I have cleaned my ICAV valve and it seams ok though it will idle around 2k on a cold start but will surge only some times and then settle right down to 750ish after a bit of driving.

things that I know I still need to do are, Change timing belt, put in new tranny(bad berrings...), re wire dash as previous owner cut almost all controls like mirrors cruse interior light switchs.

Thx SIX

Could be a bad relay. It's an easy fix for $50.

honda main fuel relays are notorious for causing these problems, especially in hot weather. look into that first. and timing belts dont "stretch" if they did, we'd all be replacing valves everytime we change our oil.

Next time you experience the starting problem, test whether it is caused by a lack of spark at the plugs or a failure of the fuel pump to activate (listen for low humming sound in rear). This information will help to identify the specific problem.
