Well, does your Climate Control Unit work otherwise? There may be a SMALL chance that all of the bulbs are bad on that. SLIM SLIM chance. Do the buttons light up when you press them?

This will be "harder" to fix than the tail lights, because you'll have to pull out the CC unit to check the wiring behind it. I'm not sure about the 89 model on how they are set up. But for my car, I have to remove the CD player (or tape or AM/FM radio) to get to the screws that hold in the CC unit.

ya .. all the functions work flawless, just the lighting behind seems to be absent. Also i dont have the luxury of buttons that light up, just sliders. I pulled it out today when i was installing a new cd player, seems like thier inside the actual unit .. ugh .. The previous owner did a number on this car, stereo wires EVERYWHERE, poorly installed aswell, im sure some of this clutter is throwin off the rest of the grounds in the car, gonna rip it all out

Well, if it's just the back lights then they are probably burned out. There are 2 or 3 bulbs on the non-"luxury" CC units. Sorry to hear about the crazy previous owner. I bought my bone stock, so I didn't have some putz, like me, wiring odds and ends all over.

I guess its possible they all burnt out .. its a good possibility with the previous owner .. .im so used to being so intricut with my cars that i notice when one is gone right away, this previous guy prolly didnt care. So, id basically have to pull out the unit and open it up to get at the bulbs?

Yeppers. Sometimes they're easy and they are removable without opened the unit, but I'm never that lucky, so good luck!

Haha, neither am I! If this is the worst, then i think my Civic will live a long life. I'm basically giving it a detox from its previous neglect. So far just about everything works aside from the small lighting issues so, It should pan out. I'm planning on keeping her bone stock. Did it with my Fiero, just kept it assembly line mint, wanna do the same with this DX. I've never been a big fan of "souping up" the boxier pre '92 models.
