Default Check engine light

The check engine light in my 1999 4-door honda civic LX has come on for the first time at 55,000 miles. The light first came on after I got in the car and my husband had left my interior light on for about 4 hours. The car started and ran with no problem, but the light wouldn't go off. I also had my oil changed 2 days before the light came on, and they said everything in the car looked fine, and just advised me of some things I would need for my 60k service. Maybe they screwed something up? I tried the gas cap thing, and no luck there. My husband also disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes, and when I turned the car on, the light went off. When I started driving to work the next morning, it came back on. Any ideas as to what could have triggered the light? I really don't want to take it to a dealer and pay a bunch for them to tell me nothing is wrong. I am not technically saavy enough to fix it myself! Thanks!

Go to Autozone or something, they'll have a code reader and they should be able to tell you what is causing the light to come on.

yeah after you fix something like that it takes about 15 key "cycles" for it to reset itself.
