Default Check engine light on-no codes

Newbie here.

I've just bought a 1992 Civic HB SI (Canada version).
It drives like a dream, but I have one peculiar problem that I'm trying to solve.

My "check engine" light has been coming on the past few days; I've had the car for about 3 weeks and never had the light come on before.
I've recently had some preventative maintenance done on the car: timing belt, water pump, ps and alt belts, valve cover gasket, and oil pan gasket.

I brought the car to the shop and they told be that there were no codes showing on the ECU. Is this common? Could the recent work performed on the car be contributing to the light coming on? It seems to coincide with the work that was done.

Some info on the vehicle: ~ 185,000 km; cold air intake added awhile ago but everything else is stock.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

It's actually an SRI. K&N

Like I said, the light has only been coming on the last few days (since the timing belt et al were worked on). The SRI has been on the car since I bought it and I didn't have any lights come on before.

Could there be something that was removed during the last maintenance, that wasn't put back on properly?

try disconnecting the battery and let the car run see if the light comes on again

there has to be some kinda of code in the computer for the light to be on. the light wont come on with no code.

Try This and see if you get any codes from the ECU

Thanks for the advice all.

I'll try the suggestions and see what I come up with.
I'll check back when I come up with something.
