Question Check Fuel Cap

I got this message when I started my car about a week ago. So I turn off the key and jump out and check the fuel cap. I remove it check the gasket, make sure it is ok and then tighten it back up and make sure it clicks a few times.
I did this a couple of times last week.

After a week it was still coming on.

Everyday I just hit the reset button and at least it is not flashing while I am driving.

Then today I start the car and the Check Fuel Cap doesn't come on.

Does it take a week for the computer to realize the cap is ok?

Several times in the past I even left the car running while getting gas and never saw the message.

Must be a fluke right?

Did you recently overfill the gas tank?

Come to think of it, the last time I filled up and the pump shut off, I put another gallon in. Maybe the EVAP system got raw fuel in it and it took a week to clear out?

That's the possibility that I was thinking about.
