Default Cigarette lighter too small?

Hello all,

I just purchased a 2003 Honda Civic (EX or LX, can't remember) used. I was just moving stuff over when trying to plug my XM in I realized it simply won't fit in the cigarette lighter. I tried four plugs in all and none fit.

It appears to me that there is a slight ridge or something all the way around about an inch in that stops the plugs from going in any further. Am I going crazy here? Does anyone know what this is all about?

Thanks!
CJ

The side metal prongs of the plug should compress to get past the ridge. Are your prongs stuck? Alternatively, you just need to apply a bit more force to insert the plug.

Haha, no, that can't be it. Like I said, I tried four different plugs. Also, in your example there, the metal clips would have gotten just a little bit in, but it would have gotten stuck on that ridge on the inside like I mentioned earlier.

Does anyone else with a 2003 Civic have this ridge in the cigarette lighter on the inside? I checked a friend's 2008 hybrid Civic and it doesn't have that ridge, so I'm pretty confused as to why it's there.
