Civic 95 stuck in park i need help!

my honda civic 95 when i start and try to shift outta park it wont its stuck there and my brake light doesnt work either i know theyre related but whats causing it and how much would it cost to get it repaired with mechanic.i know to start in neutral with key in shift lock release wtf?

check the fuses and if you have a blown fuse then look for a short in the brake wiring. it happened to me except with the front turning lights. the fuse box is located under the steering wheel if you don't know.

so like if i go to a mechanic around how much will it cose ause i dont know what to do.i know where the fuse box is how do i go about doing all that stuff.

well first check all the fuses then if all of them are fine. take it in. not sure how much it would cost. depends on what they find is the problem. i have a shop that specializes in electrical problems and they charge like $50 and up depending on how much work they need to do.
