Default Civic Coupe

Hi guys,

Sorry, im new to this forum so i hope this isn't a too stupid question

I', looking at buying a CIVIC VTi Coupe (around 97/98'). I know these cars are only 1.6lt engines. I currently have a BMW 318is 1.9ltr (twin cam) and wondering performance wise how the two would compare.

I have previously had an 1988 Honda Accord and a 1989 Honda Prelude. I really like Honda's in general but dont know a thing about civics.

I need a few knowledgable opinions on the civic in general more so the 1997/98 coupe

Any info would be very welcomed!

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

We don't have the VTi here in the states but I'm betting it's similar to our models so... the power is definitely going to be less than the BMW. You can always get a turbo kit and run mild boost and I bet the power would be similar. There's massive amounts of info around here about what you can do to make your car more powerfull.

I am also looking at 2003 HONDA CIVIC 7th Gen. MY2003 GLi

Im more so looking for good fuel economy as my main concern at the moment.. as i drive around 30,000km's a year with a combination of freeway and city driving.

Is this a nice car to drive.. comfortable, reliable, and most importantly, aftermarket upgradeable?

The 7th gens do not have the same aftermarket support that previous generations have, but it IS there. I own an 02 and the only thing I have yet to find (from a company known for quality) is an intake manifold. There are a few companies that make turbo kits, no one makes a SC kit, but you can find everything else.

As for comfort, I am not a fan of the seats that come in the 7th gens, but I'm sure you can find prelude seats from a junkyard or somewhere cheap and modify some brakets. And as for reliability... its a Honda.

Oh btw, Welcome to the forum!!!!

hondas are one of the most reliable cars on the road hands down..the power will be less but its nice power and amazing on gas, and ALOT of aftermarkit upgrades..go for the 99-00 modle you can get many upgrades and you can find them at good prices..but remember that when your looking at other car prices and honda prices for used and the same year, hondas have a much higher resale value because of the reliablity
