Well if that snap was the timing belt snapping it wouldn't have kept running afterwards.

Do like RonJ said and check to see if the cam is turning when you crank the engine. Also, change the oil as he said.

If the timing belt is snapped and the valves are bad, it'll cost you more than the car's worth to get fixed at a shop. However, I'm pretty sure if you're mechanically inclined you should be able to do it yourself no problem. I've changed my timing belt, it's a piece of cake; i've never replaced valves before or taken the head off though. Although, after getting in and taking the timing belt off there isn't much left to do to get the head off besides removing the headstuds.

I don't think the timing belt is snapped. Like you said I did drive it home and it ran fine. I think it must have slipped a tooth or something like that when I shut it down or tried to start it again. I will drain the oil tomorrow and pop the top cover off and eyeball the timing belt. I have done misc. work with Hondas before but it has been quite sometime. I have done head repair and replacement and I'm sure I did a timing belt or 2. I just got done building a 500 hp 79 Malibu for street/strip.

Well I got home tonight and jumped into it. The first intake valve on the left if you look at the motor from the front of the car is sticking. I stuck a pry bar in there and can close the valve but as soon as I turn it over it opens and won't come back up unless I pry it. Apparently the valve must be bent, I guess it could be sticking from sitting for like 4 years but if that were the case I would think I could pry it closed without that much effort. As soon as the car sits for about 10 minutes the valve does close on its own. What do you all think? Here is what it looks like.

yea idk what to tell you

maybe there is so much gunk in that engine that the valve is not moving right. After you do get this all fixed, run a bunch of seafoam through your engine.

I was thinking of the sea foam thing also. It is strange tho, if I use the prybar to pry it up it takes a bit of force. But when it sits for a few minutes it comes up on its own.
