Civic Si Engines : JDM vs. USDM
Ok all you tech savy honda tuners, i have a good one for you.
I have a 93 civic si hatch. As you know the USDM si engine is the d16z6 vtec. I have some head work done with springs and cam, but just lost my bottom end.
Cant find a distributer with a decent used d16z6, but they keep trying to sell me the JDM d15b. The engine is cheap and looks like it will work, but I dont want to lose all the work and money I put into my d16z6 head.
The question:
Will my USDM D16z6 si vtec head fit on the JDM D15b vtec block????
Any help would be appreciated.
Hit me back.
Much thanks,
Rob D

Yes, it will bolt right on and work just fine.
I'm not sure about this, but I think that the JDM D15B head has better flow, so if this is true you might consider swapping all the valvetrain and the cam that you have upgraded from the D16Z6 head into the JDM D15B because of this reason. I'm pretty sure that all the valvetrain parts and cam will fit in it, as the D15B is pretty much the JDM equivalent of the USDM D16Z6.
