Default Clutch problem

Hello,
The clutch in my 91 Civic is acting funny - The clutch will disengage with about 2" of pedal travel, but if the pedal is pushed down further, the clutch will start grabbing again. If I push the pedal all the way down, I can't shift gears.

I have played with the cable adjustment, and while I can move the clutch engagement/disengagement point up and down, it doesn't change its behavior. I now have it set relatively low, to make sure the throwout bearing doesn't contact the pressure plate while driving. What can be causing this?
Thanks,
Mikel

adjust the cable so there is about a half inch of free play in the clutch pedal

if it's still at it, looks like you might need a clutch and pressure plate
