Coil madness
Really hopping someone can help me out with this one. I have a 1990 Honda civic SI HB that I have had for 16 years. I have always done all my own work on it. It has no fancy motor work to it. It’s just a SOHC non fast motor.
I have never changed out the coil on it until about a week ago. The OEM one was still working but figured it was about time. I change out the cap and rotor about every 2 years.
So one week after putting in the new coil in, it went out on me. I got the car home. Determined it was the coil, by putting the old OEM one back in and it fired back up... Cool done deal problem solved right...
I take a different car over to take the broken coil back. They give me a new one. I go home pull the OEM one out and put the new one back in car. It fires right up, runs for 45 seconds and dies... So I put the OEM one back in and it does the exact same thing. Car will not start and, it’s not getting spark, and the Window on the ECU is not flashing anything.
What’s making this happen? Any info from the pros.
