Default cold air intake k & n

Hi newbie here, Just bought a 96 civic dx model and trying to replace the air intake with one from k & n. Problem is the new one attaches to the throttle body that's suppose to be horizontal. On my 96 the throttle body lays vertical. The factory airfilter box sits on top. Autoparts Warehouse cannot provide the technical support. They just want me to return the part but I want to gain a little performance here. Any one has that experience?

did you get the right one? is that for an ex? you need one specifically for a DX, LX, or CX

In a nutshell, you have the wrong part, and the simplest thing is to just send it back.

The DX has a vertical throttle body. The EX, with the VTEC engine, has a different intake manifold with the throttle body horizontal. So it sounds like you have an EX CAI kit instead of the DX kit.

Your other option is to put an EX manifold and throttle body onto your car. That would also be a performance upgrade. Ideally you'd put a VTEC head or the whole engine on too.

You're correct, from the K & N website I found out that Autoparts Warehouse sent me the wrong part. I'm going to buy direct from K & N and return the wrong part. Thanks folks.

just remember ones from LX and CX works for your DX as well. BTW... have you looked into AEM, i personally like AEM over K&N. but they make quality intakes though so no big deal
