Default Compressor leak?

On the driver's side next to the radiator there are two hard hoses that go into what I think is the condensor and the compressor, each with a "H" and a "L" on them. Looks like I have a very slight amount of fluid underneath the condensor and its a little wet around the "H" hose. Not antifreeze, it really doesnt smell like anything. Sound like a compressor leak? Is so, could this cause problems besides losing my AC?

Thanks

Default RE: Compressor leak?

It sounds like compressor oil, clean it all off and see if any more reappears. You can have a fluorescent yellow UV activated dye installed into the system to make it easier to pinpoint leaks. If you check under one of the plastic "H" or "L" caps and see bright green/yellow in there you already have it.

Small amounts of oil often accompany refrigerant leaks, because the refrigerant leaks out the A/C will stop cooling but other than that there is no problem.
