Default RE: control unit?

are you sure? because my 98 was a recovered theft, the doors had been stolen. the dealer installed doors off a 2000 by accident (stupid i know) and the power locks weren't working. his mechanic found that the control unit should have been in the driver's door, so they installed one with a 98 harness. power locks work now, reason for this thread is i can't get my keyless remote that i just bought to program and work for my car and was wondering if maybe the control unit thing had anything to do with it?

anyone have any idea about this? is it possible he installed a control unit in the door and it somehow bypassed the real under the dash?
