Just had this done a couple months ago on my '97. The CV boots were torn, so I just had the entire axle assemblies replaced.

One shop quoted me $560 for the job.

A buddy of mine who has his own shop (and is a former Honda tech), did it for $350, which included parts. Plus, he had it done in 35 minutes, saving me at least two days of misery. I'm not usually one to take it to a mechanic, but I still feel the $250 in labor (parts were around $100) was well worth it.
