1. Very tight.
2. It's right hand thread like standard bolts. Loosen by turning counterclockwise.

ccwhit7, if you look online, there are many diy ways to turn these guys. the most important thing is to make sure that you get the adapter that holds the other part in place and then place all your energy in turning it counter clockwise (i.e. from the front of the car, you will be pushing down on the breaker bar. I have seen pictures of 2 extensions and a breaker bar sitting on a jack so that all your energy goes towards turning it and not pressing down on the bolt.

good luck. one of these days I have to replace my timing belt.

oh yeah, forgot to mention, a few people bought 4 foot long steel (black) pipe (used for gas lines) to put over the breaker bar to give it more torque.

Thanks guys . I got to exchange my rachet for new one with snap on i pust so much pressure with a bar on it it strip the rachet gears and bolt didnt budge. I seen a tool for it for 24 bucks do they make any difference or should i hook air compressor up and take impact gun to it . I am not big fan of impacts because they can cause damage

Impact is the way to do it since you have one. The other advice with long levers, etc. is for those who don't own one.

When you do get the bolt out, as you take the pulley off, be very careful not to lose the little metal key that holds the pulley in proper timing.

Impact didnt work but about to attempt a one inch socket with a 6 ft floor jack pole. See if it works

ya if your impact gun with full psi posible wont work then get a good 1/2inch socket and break bar and a pipe and a jack stand. should work great... if it doesnt turn still.... get a longer pipe!
and dont cheap out on the break bar or extensions... a cheap extension will twist and break the heads off, and a cheap break bar will bend and maybe snap.LOL
i remembered when i was a kid my dad had a cheap break bar and pipe when trying to change tire on motor home and that sucker bent almost to a C shape.LOL it did break them loose but it pretty much trashed the break bar!

I got it removed . Friend brought his impact set up they use and tractors and dozer and it popped our in one second. Seems belt had jumped one tooth . I didnt think these cars would run unless timing belt was precise. Could be why it lacked power but still would crank and go . Just not strong at all

Skipping a tooth is actually a fairly common reason for a sudden decrease in performance. Of course it means that the belt is stretched out and needs immediate replacement.
