Default d15b2 ring gap

Hello,
recently acquired a 1989 divic dx. gots a d15b2.
planned to do a bottom end rebuild/mpfi/mini-me buuuuut, i can't seem to figure out the right piston rings.
i measured the piston and its 2.975, bore is 2.978in.
soo 75.5mm and i got the oversize rings for that. my problem is my gap is around .066 which is crazy big.
my question is this, is my math wrong or do i need to get rings for like a 76mm and file them to fit?
