I too have a 02 civic dx and just replaced the instrument cluster with one from an 01-02 LX to get the tach. Unforunately, the odometer is digital and the milage is kept in a chip on the cluster - so unless you get the chip re-programmed there is no way (that I have found) to reset the milage to be correct. I have been told by my honda dealer and someone on here that basically the only thing to do with the milage is to put a sticker on the door jam with the milage difference and indicate that there was a cluster swap.

As far as removing the cluster, it was a breeze.. 5 screws, 2 clips, and 2 plugs. Plug and play.. But don't get it from the dealer (although if you did the odometer will probably have 0 miles on it) - ebay is way cheaper... if you can find one for 01-02.. took me about a week and payed around $45 for it (including shipping)..
