Dash Wiring Harness Help
Okay, I've got a 1996 Honda Civic LX. I'm old and have very little money, and, for the first time in my life, I'm trying to make necessary repairs myself. I've been successful in several repairs so far, but I'm baffled here.
I took my aftermarket Kenwood radio out to get to the harness to make the necessary fix (found on here) on the old connector to make the dome light switches work. Worked like a charm. When I reinstalled the radio, dead as a doornail, nothing. It is co-grounded to the accessory power socket. I checked that, and all is fine, the ground is in place, and it works fine. I even made a new wire harness, and still, nothing. I bought a cheap identical radio that works, put it in, nothing.
The only thing I can figure out is wrong is in the harness in the dash. There must be a disconnected or broken wire there.
But, I don't know how to approach it. Does the complete radio harness with all three connectors unplug from the main harness? Can I take just that out and look it over? I sure don't want to take a chance on damaging any of the other systems of the car.
So, your kind help would be greatly appreciated!
