hold on ! the other day a lady did the same thing to her 03 nissan , towed it into our shop with diesel in the tank
all you got to do is take off the fuel line at the filter , run a hose into a can , hot wire the fuel pump to the battery , pump out the tank
pull out the spark plugs , clean & dry them off , put them back in
put about 5 gallons of GAS in the tank , reconnect the fuel line ,crank the **** out of it , it my take a while but it will start & smoke like a mack truck , but will clear up
new fuel pump ? i doubt its bad - $ 700? thats crazy - 3 hours labor at the most i say

That's what I would do. Why would diesel screw up your pump? More like lubricate it if anything. It's not likeshe put Iodine or sugarin the tank! You should also replace the fuel filter and flush the fuel rail, that way you'llcrank it a lot less before it fires.

But it's probably too late ifits at the shop already.

Yup, its at the shop already, ordered the fuel pump, and such. Nothing I can do about it now, should have consulted with you guys prior to all of this but I needed my car back ASAP.
I asked the guy the reason he wanted to change the fuel pump and he said that the last time he had someone in there for it, the fuel pump went a week after the diesel incident. Better safe than sorry I suppose (money is gonna hurt though[:@])

That sucks.

Why would you let your gf fill up your car? You should have sent her in to get coffee, lol. I guess we all learn from our mistakes though.

Give her a break if you really love her, I mean sure nothing adds up with what she did. The nozzle didn't fit and such but (no offense to girls) she is a girl. A typical girl doesn't know much about cars and obviously your girlfriend falls into this catergory.
But I mean if she has no remorse for the situation I'd be pissed too, give her another chance though.

The mechanic siad I should change my fuel pump, but Im not so sur ethat I need to. I know I need to change the filters, but the pump shouldnt be damaged should it? He said if I dont get it replaced now, it may run fine for a bit but it will most likely go soon. im not sure if he is just trying to get a few bucks out of me.
actually, the honda filters are a "lifetime" filter...and if they can hold up to over 200k miles...i think they can take filtering diesel...the pump could have been damaged...but who knows...if it were me, it would have been a walbro 255 pump and replacement filters going in...(i would have replaced it all regardless, not saying you have to go performance replacement) lol, my girlfriend hates to drive...its the other way around, she gets the drinks, i maintain the car. lol. and no, not all pumps in ohio are like that. my exxon has one pump that is on the same pump as the fuel, but it uses a separate pump/nozzel and is bright green! also, im pretty sure diesel wont mess up your cyl. walls.
