the coil spring that makes contact with the distributor cap had what looked like to be corrosion (white powder) all over it so i carefully sanded it off best i could and added a dab of dielectric grease on it.

is it ok to have dielectric grease there? i'm not aware whether or not it should be bone dry when making contact or if thats what caused the corrosion i found.
