are door locks interchangable? 1996 honda civic

hi,

quick question. the lock on my drivers side door has been acting funny and i fear that it will eventually quit working all together. i have to play with the key quite a bit to open it. the passenger side lock however is just fine and i hardly ever use it.

I was wondering if it would be possible to open the insides of each door and do a lock swap. basically installing the passenger side lock into the drivers side and installing the drivers side into the passenger.

are the locks compatible this way or are they unique in such a way that this wouldn't work?

oh, and i'm pretty sure the locks are just old fashioned...no electronics.

(in fact i would think this would be a very useful DIY *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* ;-))

Don't think so.. lever trigger is facing opposite direction..
