HAH! dont ever bash me for bringing back threads from the grave ever again!!

anyhow: i wasnt here when this problome went on but i would say to replace the latch, it sounds like the motor isnt pushing it in all the way, did you try to open it from the inside? if it works from the inside, then it seems like it would be something with the motor, if it dosent open from the inside, i would say something is blocking the latch that unlocks it. just inspect it visually

at least the thread is only 5 months old though I've ACCIDENTLY raised a 4 year old thread before.. didn't realize it till it happened.

Though doesn't typical forum etiquette require of one to search the forum before starting a new thread?

But since it was only 5 months old I figured I'd take a chance on the original poster seeing it.

Every time it has happened, it's been after I've parked. So I'm locked in. It won't unlock with the power lock, You cant pull it up manually, and I tried rolling down the window and using the key. It felt like the key was about to break if I turned any harder. So I eventually just get out through the passenger door and when I come back, it unlocks easily.

This is very similar to the original post. So If he fixed it, it would probably be the same thing for me.

if you have the door panel off, can't you see the mechanism at work to see if it is the solenoid in the actuator? I would think it is related to that more so than the latch mechanism unless there is a bent rod in there somehow. but you have to see it in action.

so I suggest that you use the lock/unlock button on your door to test it or even use your key. the solution has to be a simple one either the actuator or some part in the latch mechanism.

I have yet to get it to do it on purpose. So everytime i've had the door panel off, it works fine. If it is the latch assembly, that looks like a headache to replace.

Everything looks alright in there, nothing bent or broken.

I'd do 2 things.

1. grease up everything really well
2. most likely replace the actuator then of course, you'd need to verify that it is indeed bad. often times they initially become intermittent b/4 going bad.

from everything i've read, the actuator is the most likely culprit. Anyone ever changed one of these? I'm wondering how much i'm going to be cussing it while replacing it.

it looks like it is attached to the latch assembly. check out the factory Service manual, it's page 20-6.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order one.

I haven't been able to find a new lock assembly already attached with the actuator. So I am just going to order the actuator.

the best price I have found personally is here

If anyone knows one cheaper, let me know.
