So you really don't notice it. You think it has added a lot because in your mind it has. A ZC would be a nice swap. I would like to see a picture of the car. You could probably get a nice amount of money for the car with that low amount of miles.

i read the link about the test pipe. and there is 6hp difference between the stock cat and the test pipe. However i do agree with you about it being illegal and raspy. I guess maybe the extra hp is in my head. but when i compare my 90 to my gf 91 ith the same motor i defiantly get more power and she has 8000 miles more on it than me. but hers is an automatic. would that make to big difference. well my question seems to have been answered any way. i guess i will go with a zc motor.

my car: working progress but here it is http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...lbumId=2619696

okay... we already know this

we said 1 WHP difference as in you gain 1 WHP from using a test pipe over using a high flow cat. Instead of breaking the law and polluting more and spewing deadly carbon monoxide gas, you could have a high low catalytic converter on there and be making 5 WHP over stock instead of 6 WHP.

Clearly you didn't read the whole thing, or you would have noticed what we were referring to by 1 WHP when in the article they said:
"With a difference of only 1hp between a straight pipe and a 49-state LEGAL cat, it seems foolish to flaunt the law and pollute the air that we all breathe. Hell, if you are only looking for those kinds of gains, just loose 10 pounds -that alone will make your car faster than adding 1 measly HP."

and yea, automatics lose more power through the drivetrain than manuals. a torque converter (they're in auto tranny's and take the place of the clutch) transfers power from the flywheel to the input shaft by spinning turbines and impellers which push ATF (automatic transmission fluid) to turn the input shaft.

if you want to learn more about it, watch a video on youtube about torque converters. it'll explain it simple and fast, and you'll get it.

i did read the entire article. I took what you said as 1 hp diff between the stock and the test pipe not the 1 hp between the test and the other high flow. I will change that when i can afford the extra cost for the legal cat. that should help get rid of the raspy sound as well?

the tourgue converter thing. I remember that now. those ****ers are heavy.

Yeah, it'll get rid of the raspy sound some.

what kind of exhaust do you have?
is it just a generic fart can?

its not a big name brand. its a stainless 2.5" catback. with a big fart can on the end. a guy a work with said its sounds like a constipated cricket. lol. its better than my soup can cob job a ran for about 6 months prier. its a working progress. i have done a tone of body work to it. rockers, quarter panels, last weekend i did the back were the bumper use to be. all i need now is to get a new rear bumper. touch up a few spots. put a sun roof in and paint. this weekend im replacing my gas tank. fuel filter and if i get time valve cover gasket. then when winter comes hopefully i will get to the motor swap and suspension. witch is my next post. rear disk break conversion.

Oh. Well if you change to the cat you're not going to see much difference in sound since you've got that rice rocket on it. Get both a better muffler and the high-flow cat, and your exhaust sound will get 100X better.

I recommend a universal A'pexi WS2 muffler and a Magnaflow catalytic converter.

I believe this is the cat you need:

Here's the WS2 muffler. (pricey, but it sounds GREAT. You will not regret spending the money on it. A muffler or exhaust is really one of those things where you get what you pay for. You cheap out, you get an annoying exhaust tone. You pay the money and get a nice one, you'll love it every time you hear it.) (this is the turbo size muffler - has bigger inlet - since you said you had 2.5" piping. if you have 2.25" piping and you are mistaken, get the N/A version.)

Just do a LS swap and there cheap 800 and you can do the whole swap I have done it for people so many times. I can ship you the whole damn swap for 800 with a sale saying that it will run or return. Look through my threads if you have any questions on my credentials. I can get a B18B1 with tranny YS1 and OBD1 wire harness and a ECU. You are gona have to get your axels. For 1200 I can ship ya it with header, CAI AEM, Chrome ECU chipped, And a set of crower cams.
