[hr]Hi. I put a Short shifter (eBay jobbie) into my Civic over Xmas & it really shortened the throw like 60-70%!!

It didn't make any sounds when i put it in but now it clicks when I change gears. It still changes gears fine without missing any but it click like it's hitting off something.

Anyone have any similar experience with one themselves?

Is it bad for it to do that?

get a friend to change gears for you while you get under the car (you could do this while the car was in motion for some extra James Bond fun) and listen for where the clicking is coming from maybe this will point you in the right direction

 

could be the linkage hitting the exhaust. Do you hear any sort of metal on metal rattling while the car is idling or at certain RPMs? My ebay short shifter rubs on my exhaust and i've heard of others as well. Just an idea.

No, it doesn't rattle while idle'n. Think maybe the rubber gromit may have come off the ball of the shifter. It's ok as long as it doesn't fall off or start skipping gears!!
