Default ECU Question

Dealer has quoted me $934 to replace my ECU on a 91 Honda Civic HB DX Manual Transmission. I know I can get this a lot cheaper. Part # I was given was 37820-PM5-M20. I can't seem to locate it online.

Does anyone have any idea how much a replacement ECU costs, where I can get one and if part number I was given is of any use?

Thanks. I know very little aboutcars so your help is really appreciated.

Default RE: ECU Question

Well, I know that 934 bucks is wayyy too much for just replacing an ECU. I'm not sure the exact name of the ECU that you need, but it should be in the 100-200 dollar price range. Hopefully someone will give the the # for the ECU (not the dealer's part number, 37820-PM5...)

Here are some on eBay that could work (but I'm not 100% sure):

I searched "civic ECU PM5"

then "civic ECU 91"

Ask the dealership what the numbers after "PM5" mean. Because they may or may not be important, I'm assuming ther are though.
