Default Electrical Issues?

I just got a 2006 Honda Civic, 4 door, 4 cylinder. Everything works fine except for the buttons to reset the trip odometer AND to change the brightness of the console lights. Also, when the door is open the overhead light will work. But if I switch it to the "on" position it shuts off. Doesn't make sense! And the two reading lights refuse to turn on. Do any of these run off of a fuse? Hopefully its just a cheap fix...but I have a bit of a worry that it could be a major issue

yes the dome light runs off a fuse but if it comes on when does are open then fuse is good. sounds like you have some wiring bugs. take the dome light cover off and use a test light to test for power, you may just have a bad connection on the switch.
and for your console lights sounds like you have a bad connection or a bad dimmer switch
