i have a 96 civic ex 5 speed.
i was wondering if anyone could help me on this.
i forgot to disconnect the battery and i shorted the starter terminal.
after that my car wouldnt start and the main relay was clicking like crazy when attempting to start. i have a good starter, battery, and main relay.
i got it to start a couple times but now it wont at all.
also the check engine light wont come on with the main relay plugged in but if i crank it with it unplugged the light stays on
it doesnt go through the diagnostic when you turn on the key

i figured something else out
if i crank it with the main relay unplugged the check engine light is fine
but if i plug the relay in the light turns off but if you unplug the solenoid wire the light comes back on, or if the wire was already unplugged when you plug it in the light comes back on

 

Charge the battery up?

 

battery is brand new

 

Is it the same one you shorted out? Cause that makes things discharge real fast like. I don't think there's a fuse for the starter is there? If there is, you prolly blew that, check the box right next to the battery.

 

ive checked all fuses.
my check engine light doesnt come on unless i crank it then it just flashes only with the main relay unplugged.
if i plug the main relay in (the one behind the glove box) it clicks off and on like crazy
and my speedometer jumps around like crazywhile cranking
i dont know what else to say.
its some kind of short somewhere
