Default enabling a 12V power outlet

Hi all. I have a 97 Civic DX (170K) and I'm taking a trip soon and would like to plug in a GPS which leads to my problem; the 12V power outlet was never wired/activated.. How hard would that be to sort out? Could a novice do it themselves or where would you recommend I go? If so, any idea as to what I should pay? Thanks

It really easy. It's 2 wires in the back. 1 is the black and goes to the ground, the other is red and is your 12V power source. Usually, it is hooked up through your accessories power wire (so that it turns on when you turn the key). Now, chances are it might have been cut, mine was in my 97 civic. If so, it's as simple as connecting the 2 via solder, or some sort of crimp. And to remove the plastic cover, remove the screws holding in the armrest, and the one that houses the 12v outlet.
