Engine stalls when HOT & CLUTCH pedal pushed?
When my 98 EL gets good and hot after driving at least 20 minutes, the idle starts to go whacky when the clutch pedal is pushed down? It can get as bad as to where it will completely stall the engine.
This boggles my mind? I've never had any car do this before? It doesn't appear clutch or tranny related because if I re-start it and push the clutch in with the engine still hot, it will be fine. It's almost like re-starting the engine lets the ECM re-set the Idle or something...?
I definately think it's idle speed related but not sure what exactly is at fault? The only Code I ever get is P1457 for a stupid charcoal canister control side leak, which I have yet to fix but only comes on about once a month and for all I know is completely unrelated to the stalling issue.
Any thoughts?
THANKS

Does the engine idle drop when the clutch is pressed with the transmission in neutral or must the transmission be in gear? Is there any problem with the starter clutch switch at the top of the clutch pedal?
You should probably troubleshoot this circuit:

It will not make any difference as to whether or not the tranny is in a gear or in Neutral...it drops either way...
It's like it starving for air but I don't know why...when you press the clutch pedal in you disengage it which takes a load off the engine...the ECM tries to drop the idle by 50-100 RPMs but it ends up dropping like 400-700 and stalling or nearly so...
