well, i paid $87.00 for the diagnosis and replacement of the ground strap so, depending on the Dealer since they are all independently owned, it will probably be somewhere around there. The thing is, by father took the car in and it was fine so they couldnt find anything wrong, then as he was driving away it started acting up, so he took it back and since they saw the problem in action, they were able to fix it.

I work for VW headquarters and I notice east coast Dealerships seem to average $80 or so for a diag and west coast are like $90-100, and I think Honda's labor rates are much less. At least clean all your grounds really well and see if that fixes it for ya. If not, get it to act up at the Dealership and you are golden.

Hope this helps others out. If you have this problem, try all the ground cables first if the maintenance is up to date. Seems like a pretty solid solution to this concern.

no problem man.

(I had them show me the ground cable for kicks, exactly where it is at, it goes from the main wiring harness near the battery and bolts to the thermostat housing under the intake in the rear of the engine. What a STUPID idea, at least most of the other grounds are right in front and you can obviously see if they are jacked up.)

It was corroded so much it was not making a metal on metal contact. When I got home I made sure EVERY ground I could find was nice and clean and the contacts were good.

Car runs like a beast now! [8D]
