Fan speed...
The fan speed switch on the interior of my car only partially works... Speed 3 and 4 work, nothing else does though. it either blows really hard, or not at all. it is in my 1990 civic hatch. i replaced the switch, but that did not fix it. any help?
I am not sure of the answer to your question, but wow.
You gave us 3 hours to answer a thread before you gave up on us. Sorry but it doesn't work like that. This is not instant messenger. We do not sit on the computer all day anticipating new questions. Your question will get answered. Give it more than 3 hours. Or maybe no one has answered because no one knows the answer, and the people that know the answer haven't been on HCF today yet.

It could be a resistor in the blower motor itself. This problem is so frequent on the Chevrolet Cavalier there is a Sticky in the Maintenance Forum about it.
Basically, the resistor controls the blower in the lower speeds, and when it burns out, the blower does not turn on at the lower settings.

for a older civic..... ya might want to check out another civic forum.... theres just not as many 91- civic owners here... most are 92-00 and a few newer....
but yes the blower resistor unit is most likely the problem...... tho could be the blower also starting to die.... test the power at the blower... if it gets power at lower voltage settings then the resistor box is probably fine... and the blower just needs more power to get it turning.... thats how mine started out... then i had to start kicking it to make it work... and then after a month or so it went out completly.

Almost certainly the resistor pack, as it works OK on high. There's a chance it's the switch, but those usually burn out so low speeds work but high doesn't.
The resistor is mounted in the air duct right after the fan, behind the glove compartment. Unscrew the hinges at the bottom and take the glove compartment out of the car. Then you can see the resistor on a flange with a 4-wire plug to it.
