Or rather, does anyone a good site to get an OEM kit, or is this something that you want to build your own? I'm just worried I might forget to order something. :/

I would not buy an aftermarket kit. Who knows what the quality is, and if the T-belt breaks you're SOL.

Honda Parts at HondaPartsDeals.com: Honda Accessory, Honda Car Parts, Honda Auto Parts, Honda Accord Parts and if you purchase over $50 use honda-tech10 coupon code for $10 off.

Hey, I'm checking out that Honda site for OEM parts. Here's what I'm finding so far:

BELT, TIMING (104RU24 GB-333) - $34.53

WATER PUMP (YAMADA) - $72.86

O-RING, WATER PUMP (YAMADA) - $2.77

TENSIONER SET, TIMING BELT (KOYO SEIKO) - $48.20

I'm not sure which belts and gaskets I'd need beyond that. Could anyone make a recommendation? I think the remaining gaskets have different names than what I'm searching for...

Thanks much

While you have the timing belt off, go ahead and check your power steering, AC, and alternator belts. Mine turned out to be original dry rotted junk when I was swapping engines, so I had to take an extra trip to the store. Those don't necessarily have to be OEM if you're on a budget, but stick to OEM on the timing belt/water pump/tensioner.

Let me do some comparison shopping for you. One of my stores of choice is Majestic Honda (Majestic Honda - The Internet's #1 Honda Automotive Parts Store) and their parts are usually slightly cheaper. They're a dealership in Rhode Island, I think, and they can draw from two other warehouses/dealerships to fill orders.

14400-P2F-A01 BELT, TIMING (104RU24 GB-333) $33.02
14520-P2A-305 TENSIONER SET, TIMING BELT (KOYO SEIKO) $46.10
19200-P2A-A01 WATER PUMP (YAMADA) $69.67
19222-P08-004 O-RING, WATER PUMP (YAMADA) $2.65

Subtotal $151.44

Thanks for helping me save some bucks. You guys are awesome. I'm still having a tough time locating the "crank case front main seal". I'm also curious if this would be a good time to do the "Automatic transmission right axle seal" since the car will be jacked up with the wheel off.

On another note, my friend said I can use his compressor and impact wrench. This would be a good thing to have for the procedure, right? Is there a specific socket I need to look for?

Thank you guys, you are helping my broke *** in a huge way.

I'm wondering if something like this would be an ok idea. It's purportedly all OEM parts:

HONDA GENUINE OEM CIVIC TIMING BELT KIT 96-00 | eBay

Looks like I'd need to add the water pump O-ring, but at least I wouldn't misorder the various belts and gaskets, no? Sorry to be high maintenance on this thread.

Water pumps usually include the o-ring. You should buy a new front crank seal and install it if you find it is indeed leaking. With the impact wrench you will need 17, 19, and maybe 21 mm sockets for the motor mount. Also ordinary sockets in 10, 12, and 14 mm. If equipped with A/C you need a 14 mm end wrench for the idler pulley nut (it's too close to the frame to use a socket on it), and an end wrench or a long extension 1/4 inch drive 10 mm for the idler pulley jack screw.

The transmission seal is a completely independent job. You don't need to remove either axle to replace the timing belt. Just lift the left front and take the wheel / tire off.

Thanks for the info. I have all of those sockets for my handheld socket set, so I think I'm good to go. I'm mainly curious about the impact wrench in terms of the crankshaft pulley. Will I still need a breaker bar for this and an extra jack and whatnot? I'm trying to minimize the amount of special tools I'll ever use again. :P
