Front axle leaking even after new seal.

I removed the leaking cv shaft and pushed on the bearings with my fingers looking for movement and I found none. I measured the cv shaft sealing surface found 1.375 aprox, I than looked up the seal specs and it showed 1.378 Id.
Do you know of a way to check the bearings, I still have the old cv shaft if that will help to check bearing play.
