Gasoline in Intake Mani
heres a interesting thing: is it normal to have a puddle of gas inside the intake manifold when the car has sat for a few hour? You can see it when you open the throttle plate.
My car surges/misses/smokes only at cold startup, I wonder if they are connected

I don't really think it is necessary. My first reaction was - no way, this can't be, it's not a carburated engine. But after I gave it a thought, I realized that fuel could be sucked into the mani through adamaged fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. And this is the ONLY way fuel can get there. So I'm 99.99% sure FPR replacement will solve this. And most probably it will take care of your cold start, too. Be carefull, though, those two little bolts usually are a beotch to remove without breaking them.
oh well hell yeah if that works you have solved a year of problems. would a bad fpr make the car harder to start when low on gas? it used to start fine even a little below E, but now it take a few tries and sometimes starts and dies when it is only just at E. Meh
Will be glad if this helps.
I'm notsure it is related to you other problem, though.[&:] Does it happen hot or cold or both?
And why do you want to do this anyway?
Running dry is not beneficial to your pump and injectors, I'm trying to avoid having an empty tank.

I would think fuel pump then. Or, did you by chance get any hit in the area of your fuel tank before the problem started?Tank might be bent and interfere with fuel pump or fuel level sensor work.
