Hi all i'm driving a 1997 honda civic 1.4i and i want to change the gear ****. This is stuck solid and does not screw off and im afraid in case i do damage, can anyone advise how this is removed. i live in ireland and its feckin rainin as usual.

Well in my car is was really stuck.
Just try really hard so you can break the thread locker applied at the factory

 

Yea large adjustable pliers (if you're not keeping the ****) and lots of elbow grease...... remember it's counter clockwise to loosen.... Another option is to cut the **** off with like hack saw or dremel (can get messy)...

assuming american is same as euro u could just take a saw to the actual shifter and buy an ebay short throw for 20 american dollars

 

post a picture cuz i havent seen a civic where youd need a hacksaw to take the **** off...
