REFER TO: Engine Replacement Question, Transmission Linkage, Won't Start. --- Project failing!

My other threads are gettinglengthy going to post up a fresh one here.

Progress to date:

Comments: Engine install went rather smoothly, few snags but no major issues. Three day install and an arguement with the father, RAWR!

GO BABY GO, CAR FIRED AND DROVE 2 BLOCKS TODAY [12-9-07]

Current problem:

Car stalled in first gear from stop. Will not fire. ---- Assuming timing belt slipped a tooth due to a loose tensioner pulley bolt.

Diagnostics attempted:

None. Going to check dynamic timing again to make sure tooth didn't slip. Update soon!

REMEMBER:

Vehicle did not have problem starting before I swapped to the japanese long block. Motor turned over well and would not fire due to unknown reasons. That's another story.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD

FROM OLD MOTOR TO THE NEW MOTOR

The starter circuit is pretty simple (see picture). Can you describe what you mean by "arched starter" in the context of the circuit diagram?

Arched "hooked to Bat+" to "cant see other side" ... lol with a screw driver. REFERENCE : STARTER.JPG

Bascially spinning the starter motor there at the solenoid instead of with a key in the ignition.

Your clicking sounds are coming from the Dashpot Control and Purge Cut-Off Solenoid Valves. These components control air intake and evaporative emissions, so I don't think problems with either would affect power to the starter. Turning the key causes these components click, so maybe the ignition switch is okay?
That's what I was thinking. I'm DAMN FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW. Does anyone else have any insight?? Ron, I'm going to try to find a home for that little white connector while the pizza dude gets here. I appreciate you letting me pick at your brain for a while. Thanks in advance! (notice my feeble attempt to not be so pessimistic with the thread title? lol)

Based on information you have provided so far, you may have a problem with both the starter and the BLK/WHT wire circuit between the ignition and starter. The pictures tell you how to troubleshoot these problems. I hope it helps.

By the way, do you think the unknown male coolant connector may be part of the EACV or Fast Idle Valve?

Not sure what the fast idle valve is but the old block does not have this extra coolant line. I'm going to give those diagrams a shot tomorrow. I think maybe I have the starter wires backwards or something dumb... I guess not too many people have the old 88-91 gen civics. Not getting too much insight here.. Wish me luck, I may be losing my job if I can't get it fixed by the time this weekend is over. Updates coming soon....

Alright so I'm a freaking retard folks! RonJ you've been an awesome help dude. My solenoid wires were backwards. (Had power going to the smaller side of the solenoid)... I reversed it and the car is turning over and engaging properly. It was dead so I didnt get much, but it is functioning properly.Im waiting now for the battery to charge up a little from jumper cables before I attempt to start it again. Updates coming soon!!!

I'll probably be back with full juice to the battery and whining that it's turning over and not firing now. ---- BRB!

Okay, got full juice and still no fire. I get a spit from the intake and that's it. Any suggestions??

This is great news! I am so glad you figured out the problem.

By the way, I don't think the starter circuit diagram in diagram.jpg matches with your year Civic.

Good luck with ignition!
