Default Grinding noise while driving / '99 Civic LX

Hi folks,

I'm curious if anyone can help me diagnose an issue. During a road trip, my car started to have a squealing / grinding noise coming from - what I believe to be - the front-right wheel well. I hear it when I start to accelerate moving forward, and even more so when I reverse. It does not seem like it gets worse when I brake, and it does not seem to be engine-related (the noise only occurs when the car rolls and is not intensified by higher RPM's).

I must mention, we are currently about 300 miles from home and I'm curious if you guys think it's safe to continue the drive if it is indeed a wheel bearing issue? I had my brakes inspected a year ago and the mechanic said they look just fine, so I can't imagine I'm suddenly down to the end of my brake pads...

Any pointers would be fabulous!

Thanks

Well..I hope you know how to take things apart when it comes to cars because you can check it out yourself with your spare tire Lug wrench & a jack and look for anything that looks damaged/scraped/cracked/etc...if you do find anything damaged take a GOOD CLOSE pic of it, then go down to Autozone or Advance(or any auto parts place) & show the pic to them. They will be willing to help you out on what part you need & maybe what tools you need to replace that part.......................OR you can go down to see a Mechanic and he can sayyyy.."Well..this, that & the 3rd is damaged..and you can't ride out of here at all..so it's gonna cost ya...$450 to do it".

If I were you..i would go with the first chose.

I think a rock must have gotten lodged in there cause the noise is completely gone. I will jack it up and take off the wheel to inspect, just in case.
