Red face Heater Fascia bulb replacing

Hi guys i have a 1992 vti Civic i have a problem with the electrics where someone has done something where the lights on the heater switches come on when you start the car I think someone has mis-wired this somewhere, also the actual bulbs on the heater display matrix does not work, can someone tell how to remove the heater panel to check the bulbs are ok,please.

To take the panel out, first remove the radio. Remove the bottom piece with the lighter and ashtray. Remove outer trim over the radio and panel. Remove radio. If it's a stock radio it will have bolts in the back. Then reach up thru the radio hole and take out the screws holding the panel in. I think these screws are black. The gold screws hold parts of the panel together.

This almost seems like a grounding issue. The lights in each button are LEDs, so it's unlikely they have burnt out. The back light is two incandescent bulbs but they seem to work. Does the dash light up at the proper time and dim with the dimmer control? The heater control panel is on the same dimmer circuit.

i got some pictures of how to remove or take apart the controls...

http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ect/?start=200

i swear i had a write up about them for the 92-95civics but i cannt find it.
removing the controls is the PITA! so put some gloves on since the metal under the dash is VERY SHARP!

and first take the cable off the heater box first. pull the black cable out from the retainer clip and simply slide the wire cable off the shiny rod and look at how that black cable is ran to the climate controls it needs to go back the same way! otherwise it could bind! and just leave the cable end on the climate controls. i had to replace my whole climate controls since my ac button was missing and it looked horible and my 2 backlight bulbs didnt work either... well they would but i had to hit the dash afew times above the controls.LOL

to get to the mounting screws for the controls you need to remove the lower drivers trim and passenger glove box down so you can remove the center lower ash tray trim panel while also unplugging the cig lighter wire harness as well on the rear of the cig lighter. and I THINK there was 2screws on the front and 1 screw on the back alittle further into the dash and then just unplug the wire harness off the controls and you should be able to pull the climate controls out easily enough.
its been awhile since i worked on the 94civic.

Question

Hi guys sorry i have noticed that when you turn on the switch to low lights the clock and heater display goes very dim is this a bad earthing or a wiring messed up in the radio area?

thats factory dimmer..... look towards your left and find the little dial and just turn it the other way to make it brighter. it wont be as bright as during the day but at night it doesnt need to be that bright!

its gotta have a dimmer switch! my 66 impala has a dam dimmer switch.LOL
if its missing then the whole panel is missing then and a empty hole there.... its alittle rotary thing that rotates up and down.... to the left of the steering wheel. spin it up for bright and down for full dim.
