help! car will not start!!
okay i have a 2000 civic si...so i thought the problem was with the main relay when my car wouldn't start. the relay was fried and a couple others i put in burnt up too, i realized that there were two wires fused together going into the relay that was smoking the relay up, i fixed the wires put a new relay in...still wouldn't start. before i didnt have current from terminal 5 (ignition) to the relay, now i do have power from it but still it doesn't start. if i take the battery terminal off and put it back on the check engine light goes off and the fuel pump comes on, or if i pull the fuse under the hood to the relay and put it back in the fuel pump comes on and it starts. after i turn the car off and turn the ignition back to "on" the same thing happens every time, fuel pump won't come on. checked the pump, it is fine too. not sure what is causing this problem, i dont want to have to pull the fuse out and put it back on every time i want to drive the car! please help me out!
hmmm yes it does. i had no idea that could somehow interfere with the car starting up. i don't even know where it's wired, anything i should look for when i find it? if i uninstall it and the car still doesn't start will i know it's not the anti-theft sytem? thanks for the help.
They're usually wired into the fuel pump and/or ignition so after a potential thief punches out the column lock, it still won't start. There's probably a short somewhere in it that is causing your wires to burn up.
okay i just realized when fooling with the car that if i wait with the key turned to "on" the pump will come on after about 5-10 minutes...sounds like a bad connection somewhere, the relay is new and i fixed the wiring problem at the relay...everything at the pump is good, so where to look next? could it be a problem from the ignition even if the relays shows there is power from the ignition?? oh my gosh...a couple more days of driving my old car and im going to have to take this to a shop
