help please
hi im new here but not new to forums, so im sorry if i offend anyone by not searching first.
i have a problem i cant figure out, and would like to know if anyone has any ideas or has had the same thing happen to them?
i have a 92 hatch si, sohc 1.6 vtec, it has a header, intake, exhaust, and i think thats it(thats how i bought it, i had big plans) any ways i bought it in the fall. it ran great loved it, until the late spring early summer when it started heating up out side. i noticed that some days when it would sit in the sun for extended periods or on hot days, it wouldn't start. it would crank but not start.there seems to be something thats draining the battery also. because the battery goes dead when it sits. which is normal but the batt seems to go dead really fast in this car. like 1 to 2 days and its completly dead. it seems now that even on cold days or when its in the shade or the sun it just chooses when it wants to start and when it doesn't.
any help or ideas would be greatly appriceated
thanks
ryan

just got a brand spankin new batt. that was the first thing i thought of. then i took ot to a shop and it never gave them any trouble, but they said the dist was kinda funky, so i got a new dist and it still doesn't want to start all the time. more often than not it won't start.
Well, if you have a new battery and distributor, get your alternator tested. The alternator charges the battery when the car is running. If the alt is bad, it won't charge.
And when it does start for you, check if that battery has a charge.

Intermittent "crank but no start", especially in hot weather, is the classic symptom of a flakey main relay. Unbolt the relay and let it hang under the dash by the wires so you can reach it. The next time it won't start, tap on the relay and see if that helps.
The battery running down is probably an unrelated issue. Check that the various lights that come on automatically (I think in that car it will only be the dome and cargo lights) always go out when the doors are closed.
